The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had
set the minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for teacher in
classes I to VIII according to the notification dated 23rd August,
2010 and 29th July, 2011. He/She should be passed in the Teacher Eligibility
Test (TET) exam which will be conducted by Government referred in clause (n) of
section 2 of the RTE Act and in accordance with the guidelines framed by the
NCTE.
It is also said that It would bring national standards and
benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process and It would induce
teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further
improve their performance standards.
The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of
India has handed over the responsibility of conducting the Central
Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) Delhi
